Card – Hole by Hole
1st. Walding’s Walk.
|Mens:||335 yards||Par 4||( SI 10 )|
|Ladies:||313 yards||Par 4||( SI 10 )|
A drive favouring the left half of the fairway sets up a relatively short approach to a deceptively difficult green
2nd Men’s Dilemma
|Mens:||366 yards||Par 4||( SI 6 )|
|Ladies:||269 yards||Par 4||( SI 14 )|
A straight drive avoilding ‘Hudson’s Tree’ on the right brings you to the left half of the fairway and opens up the approach to the green. Two good shots are required to reach the green in regulation.
3rd Willy’s Pitch
|Mens:||301 yards||Par 4||( SI 14 )|
|Ladies:||280 yards||Par 4||( SI 10 )|
Although a short hole, the two tier green that slopes away from you, presents the most testing approach shot. Genuine birdie opportunity.
4th Panter’s Pines
|Mens:||178 yards||Par 3||( SI 12 )|
|Ladies:||162 yards||Par 3||( SI 12 )|
A fairly straightforward par three, but beware the hidden bunkers to the right of the green.
5th Le Roy des Trous
|Mens:||442 yards||Par 4||( SI 1 )|
|Ladies:||423 yards||Par 5||( SI 6 )|
Stroke index 1 for the men and a par 5 for the ladies. The hole favours a long drive to the bottom of the hill. A blind, up hill second shot will need an extra club to reach the green.
6th Parker’s Pit
|Mens:||400 yards||Par 4||( SI 4 )|
|Ladies:||366 yards||Par 4||( SI 2 )|
A good, straight drive is essential to clear the valley and avoid the trees on either side of the fairway. This will give the opportunity to reach the green in regulation. The large green slopes from right to left.
7th Codger’s Corner
|Mens:||148 yards||Par 3||( SI 16 )|
|Ladies:||142 yards||Par 3||( SI 16 )|
Wind conditions dictate club selection. The large front bunker hides ‘dead’ ground short of the green.
8th The Avenue
|Mens:||361 yards||Par 4||( SI 8 )|
|Ladies:||294 yards||Par 4||( SI 8 )|
One of the best holes on the course. An accurate drive to the left of the fairway leaves a fairly short shot to a severely undulating green. Two deep bunkers also need to be avoided.
9th Bishop’s Bunkers
|Mens:||117 yards||Par 3||( SI 18 )|
|Ladies:||110 yards||Par 3||( SI 18 )|
Kingsthorpe’s answer to the ‘postage stamp’. Always subject to tricky winds. Beware of the hidden bunker / out of bounds at the back of the green.
10th Alexander’s Lay Up
|Mens:||288 yards||Par 4||( SI 15 )|
|Ladies:||277 yards||Par 4||( SI 11 )|
A narrow driving hole, with trees left and right of the fairway. The tee short should favour the right side which will leave an easy pitch to a large green.
11th Carter’s Straight
|Mens:||298 yards||Par 4||( SI 17 )|
|Ladies:||255 yards||Par 4||( SI 17 )|
Another tight driving hole, but with no surprises. Making the fairway will set up a good birdie chance.
12th The Long Haul
|Mens:||408 yards||Par 4||( SI 2 )|
|Ladies:||363 yards||Par 4||( SI 3 )|
A solid Tee shot is essential to have any chance of reaching the green in two. A deep valley is in front of the green and out of bounds on the left makes for a testing second shot.
13th Bonnie Breas
|Mens:||211 yards||Par 3||( SI 9 )|
|Ladies:||161 yards||Par 3||( SI 15 )|
A long par 3 over the valley again. The driver is a common club, particularly if the wind is against. Watch out for a sneaky bunker on the right of the green.
14th Turn for Home
|Mens:||287 yards||Par 4||( SI 5 )|
|Ladies:||371 yards||Par 4||( SI 5 )|
An inviting drive back over the valley. An accurate second is required to find the green set down in the corner of the course with out of bounds on three sides.
15th Parry’s Par
|Mens:||549 yards||Par 5||( SI 7 )|
|Ladies:||534 yards||Par 5||( SI 1 )|
Demanding par 5 requiring three good shots to reach the green. The fairway has a right to left camber all the way to the green.
16th Garrett’s Ridge
|Mens:||373 yards||Par 4||( SI 11 )|
|Ladies:||313 yards||Par 4||( SI 9 )|
An uphill drive clearing the ridge should favour the left hand side of the fairway. An accurate second is required to avoid the bunkers on either side of the narrow green.
|Mens:||373 yards||Par 4||( SI 13 )|
|Ladies:||347 yards||Par 4||( SI 13 )|
A modest drive to a down hill fairway leaves a tricky second to a two tier green. Beware the bunkers and the sloping dead ground in front of the green.
18th Flat Earth
|Mens:||403 yards||Par 4||( SI 3 )|
|Ladies:||375 yards||Par 5||( SI 7 )|
A fine finishing hole with out of bounds all down the left and trees to the right. The drive requires pin point accuracy and some courage. Even a good drive leaves a lengthy second to a sloping green and plenty of trouble for a slightly off line approach.
